A traumatic shock following a brutal, unusual and disruptive (crisis) event has a considerable cost, both in terms of human suffering and handicap to the economic and organizational perfomance of the concerned teams.

Without appropriate actions (within 48 hours) after an incident, one person out of three may develop symptoms that lead to severe and sometimes chronic personality, social and health disorders, inducing direct impacts in the professional activity and the private life.

As a consequence, a traumatic shock leads to an increase in tardiness, absenteeism, accidents and illnesses. It induces disengagement with respect to the company and, ultimately, a significant decrease in performance for the concerned teams.

In light of those disorders of all kinds, the institutions must respond to the emergency, to the internal and external pressures as well as to the reality of the human consequences.

Legal obligations of the employer article L 230-2 of the social modernization law

The head of establishment takes the necessary measures to ensure security and to protect the physical and mental health of workers in the establishment, including the temporary workers.

Those measures include efforts to prevent occupational, information and training hazards as well as the setting up of an organization with adapted means. It ensures the adaptation of its measures to take into account the changes of circumstances and seeks to improve existing situations
